About

In 2016 and 2017, several astrophysicists began discussing the advent of advanced algorithms for data-intensive research on astrophysics and cosmological phenomena. We encountered one another at workshops, conferences, and in our local institutions.

We soon realized that joining with experts from computer science, and in particular, artificial intelligence, would be crucial. We then looked to develop partnerships at institutions across the world, finding expertise at national labs, universities, and other centers of inquiry.

Deep Skies aims to bring together experts in Astronomy and Artificial Intelligence to explore the mutual benefits of large-scale data analysis for both fields.

Deep Skies is a highly collaborative and inclusive environment. We encourage open-source methodologies and providing accurate attribution for ideas and contributions. Our community also engages in best practices to improve diversity and inclusion in STEM fields.
